If we compare between the population of Samarrah for the years 1977, 1987, and 1997, we find
that the rate of population growth of the city was (3.77%) for (1977 – 1987) and became (2.2%) for
(1987 – 1997). This indicates the fact of the slowdown in population growth compared to the country for several reasons, among them is the immigration of manpower to developed economic centers like Baghdad and Tikrit.
